Template — review with a lawyer before going live. This document is a starting draft prepared from common Indian-market practice for a tournament platform. It has not been reviewed by counsel. Have a lawyer audit and customise it before you accept real payments or signups in production.
Refund Policy
Effective date: 4 May 2026. Operated by Pickleball BLR, Bengaluru, India.
We want every player to feel confident registering. This policy explains exactly when and how you can get a refund, who to contact if something goes wrong, and what happens if a tournament is cancelled by us.
1. Player-initiated cancellation
You can cancel a confirmed registration at any time before the tournament's start date and time. Open My tournaments in your dashboard and click Cancel registration.
By default we offer a tiered refund based on how close you cancel to the tournament:
- More than 7 days before start — 100% of the entry fee refunded.
- 3 to 7 days before start — 75% of the entry fee refunded.
- Less than 3 days before start — 50% of the entry fee refunded.
- After the tournament starts or no-show — no refund.
For the MVP rollout, every cancellation made before the tournament start currently gets a full refund. We will give you at least 14 days' notice before introducing a tiered schedule on a specific tournament. The exact terms for each tournament are shown on its detail page at the time you register.
2. Refunds initiated by us
- Tournament cancelled by us — 100% refund of the entry fee.
- Tournament postponed by more than 7 days — your registration carries forward to the new date by default; if the new date doesn't work, contact us and we will refund 100%.
- Category cancelled or merged — if your category is cancelled and we cannot move you to a comparable category, you receive a 100% refund.
3. How refunds are processed
- Entry fees are paid online through our payment gateway (Razorpay), so refunds are issued back to your original payment method — the same card, UPI ID, or account you paid from.
- We aim to initiate the refund within 2 business days of your cancellation. It typically reflects in your account within 5–7 banking days after that.
- You can track the refund status under Payments in your dashboard.
- If you used a discount code or voucher, the refund covers only the amount you actually paid in INR.
4. Disqualification, no-show, and code-of-conduct violations
No refund is issued if you are disqualified, marked no-show, or removed from a tournament for breach of the player code of conduct (see Section 6 of our Terms of Service). You will be notified of the decision and can appeal it by writing to us within 7 days.
5. Unconfirmed payments
If you don't complete payment by a tournament's confirmation deadline, your registration stays in Pending payment and may be released back to capacity. There is nothing to refund in that case — simply register again if a seat is still available.
6. Disputes
If you have a concern about a payment, please email us first with your registration ID and the transfer reference. We will respond within 2 business days and resolve any legitimate issue directly with you.
7. Prize money
Prize money is paid after a tournament concludes and may be subject to TDS deduction under Indian tax law. Once disbursed, prize money is not refundable.
8. Contact for refund issues
Email hello@pickleballblr.com with your registration ID and we will respond within 2 business days. For unresolved issues you can escalate to our grievance officer at privacy@pickleballblr.com.
